Gargoyles, which originally aired for three seasons from 1994 to 1997, stars a family of anthropomorphic stone defenders who are reawakened from suspended animation atop a medieval Scottish castle to find themselves in New York City. Marvel's Gargoyles series, which ran from 1994 to 1995 and featured early work from comic industry titans like Amanda Conner, Joe Madureira and Jimmy Palmiotti, will be the first of these releases, hitting store shelves in the fourth quarter of 2022. Published by Dynamite Entertainment and penned by one of the franchise's original creators, Greg Weisman, the series will come out alongside facsimile reprints and trade paperbacks compiling previous Gargoyles comics. The three disparate souls within Coldstone's body would cause the stone warrior no end of strife, despite the better efforts of Coldstone's comrade-in-arms Goliath and the other members of the Manhattan Clan, the main stars of Gargoyles. A thousand years after his destruction, Coldstone and his family members were reconstructed by series antagonists Demona and Xanatos into a single hybrid that was part gargoyle, part machine. A member of the Wyvern Clan, his body was destroyed by Viking raiders along with the bodies of his mate and brother.

Voiced by Michael Dorn of Star Trek fame, Coldstone was also referred to as Othello on Gargoyles. The first issue of TOYCOLLECTR, which is available for pre-order now via a one-year $69 subscription, promises a deep dive into the history of Gargoyles toys, including both Kenner and NECA's respective lines. NECA is the latest company to obtain the Gargoyles toy line, though Kenner produced several figures based on the show when it was still on the air. NECA is the company behind other impressive Gargoyles figures, including the most recent releases of Brooklyn, Goliath and Demona.
